Today's Headlines
are headlines grouped by topics like world events, US events,
technology, computer security, linux and so on. Headlines are gleaned
every few minutes from a variety of sources around the web and written in
local XML files conforming to the
RSS specification
for syndicated newsfeeds.
OnThisDay
in history, Quotes, Recipes,
the Weblog, the
Anglican Timeline
and even the Guestbook
are created using php in conjunction with mySQL.
Much of the php-generated dynamic content is cached for around 20 seconds
to keep from bogging down the server in the (unlikely) event that many
different visitors all try to view the site at the same time.
I usually visit
Today's Headlines first.
Sometimes I like to see what happened on
this day in history.
To do this a php viewer reads and sorts dated entries
from a mySQL database.
One of my hobbies is photography and some of my favorite pictures will
appear in the Photo Album area.
The random Quotation near the bottom of the
front page is provided by yet another php program working together
with the mySQL database containing over 9,000 quotations.
So, now that you're here, click around and enjoy your visit. Be sure to
sign the guestbook.
